STR LIVE ! @ YB Chavan Auditorium, February 23rd 2008 : A fundraiser for the education of women in India
A little bit about the Women Graduates Union of India..
Recognizing the need to empower women through education and career enhancing activities the WGU, an NGO was founded in 1915 by women with a vision. Over the years their welfare activities have included a workingwomen's hostel, a study center, a balwadi and a computer center. Not satisfied with just providing facilities, they have moved one-step further and established scholarships to encourage the girl child to study further; a counseling and guidance center; and a Consumer and Civic Affairs Cell.

Something Relevant; a nine-member jazz/funk/hip-hop/jamming brass section-boasting band from Mumbai that have impressed audiences nationwide with their fun-filled live spectaculars are proud to partner with WGU to raise funds for this noble and inspiring cause. Wanting to make this endeavour an all round entertainment evening they have roped in Rang, the St. Xavier's college band who will peform an array of popular Hindi songs.
Anuraag on Hindustani vocals will authenticate & reinvent the Indian fusion elements. And finally reviving some golden moments through the years will be Cavas Billimoria; National Judo champ and instructor.
Yb Chavan auditorium is one of the best and most historic auditoriums in Mumbai. Its a super comfortable place with a great vibe.
It is also the perfect spot right in the centre of South Mumbai. Surrounded by many of the city's famous landmarks.
We are playing all our new songs that will be performed as they sound like on the forthcoming album plus a few jams here and there.
We'll have a big jam with Cavas, who's singing some popular tunes by Elvis and some others. We are going to attempt to reinterpret whats sometimes referred to as 'oldies music' by doing these songs our way. Also with Cavas' arena filling voice, this will be a treat!
Anuraag is also jamming with the band on the original songs. So expect more tabla, acoustic guitars and maybe even some sarod.
